    • Conversation Corner with Star De Azlan

By: Andrew Vaughan Star DeAzlan started out young. At 13 years of age she was singing open mic nights at the Cheatham Street Warehouse in San Marcos, Texas.  At 13, of course, she had no idea of the significance of the venue she was playing. She had no idea that this was the place where George Strait got his break. In fact, three members of Strait...
    • Conversation Corner with Richard Jaymes

By: Andrew Vaughan At the recent Country Radio Seminar, a radio industry event where new artists and established acts fight for playlist consideration from the country’s most powerful radio programmers, a star just may have been born.
    • Terrible Celebrity Sickness - Overwhelming Pop Culture in 2009

By: Andrew Vaughan As dust settles on the Michael Jackson death, funeral, tribute, and media circus, I'm left with one curious thought: have we really learned anything in the thirty-odd years since the untimely passing of another pop culture icon, Elvis Presley? Fame and celebrity has become increasingly intrusive since the 1960s and the beginning of the...
    • Conversation Corner with Trailer Choir

By: Andrew Vaughan Toby Keith is a smart cookie. He runs his Show Dog empire from an unassuming building a few blocks from Nashville’s famed Music Row, and he clearly knows a thing about A&R. Record companies usually employ an A&R (artist and repertoire, but that’s kind of misleading) Exec to look after their artists and sign new talent...
    • Conversation Corner with Marthia Sides

By: Andrew Vaughan Marthia Sides is not only one of the more dynamic performers to surface in Nashville, but she's also one of the more interesting. Marthia's from a musical theater and acting career in New York City. When not performing she trained as a stylist and now has numerous celebrity clients. But country music drew Marthia to Nashville where she's...
    • Concert Cell Phone Etiquette

By: Nikki Spalaris Okay, everyone... I think it’s time to "have the talk.” What talk, you ask? The etiquette one. This one is not about table manners or wearing white after Labor Day. No, this one is about a nasty addiction. An addiction that is so viral and yet complacent to the norm that we can't see the light at the end of...
    • Conversation Corner with Lorrie Morgan

By: Andrew Vaughan She quit smoking five years ago, and Lorrie Morgan looks ten years younger. She says she put on a pound or two, but you’d never know. Veterans of the singing business shouldn’t look nor sound as good as Lorrie Morgan, but then she was never exactly your typical Nashville singer. The daughter of Country Music Hall of Famer...
    • Tribute to Gram Parsons

By Andrew Vaughan In January, Country rock's saddest soul was honored again in San Francisco. Gram Parsons died tragically in 1973, but his influence and legacy seems more powerful than ever. San Francisco musician, Eric Shea, a huge Parsons fan, brought together a team of GP aficionados, including Red Meat, Molly Tuttle, The Stone Foxes, Elisa Randazzo,...
    • Holiday Conversation Corner with Mark Wayne Glasmire

By: Andrew Vaughan 1) What is your favorite Holiday memory as a child? "I have been blessed to have nothing but fond memories of Christmas throughout my entire life. Having been born and raised in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, 'The Christmas City,' has always made those memories that much more special. I believe my fondest memories are of the times that...

The Ohio raised singer, who found major label fame in the early 2000s, has since settled into an independent label career that allows her to explore more personal music and develop her individual style. "I believe there are good and bad things to being...

Let's start 2010 with something free. I was contacted recently by an old country music buddy in England about this new concept artist posters. Paul Harris is the guy's name who runs the company and as an ex-singer/songwriter he loves to visit Nashville and do business with Music City. He started a poster company in England offering special posters British pop stars, global superstars, and premier league soccer heroes, and now the company is branching out to the USA and country music.
